ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the war cabinet that an Israeli delegation will be visiting Washington next week.

A previous visit was planned for an Israeli delegation to visit Washington, where meetings were scheduled with senior US officials to discuss the planned Israeli ground invasion of the southern city of Rafah in Gaza.

However, the planned visit never saw the light of day as Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the cancellation of its delegation's visit to Washington following its decision to abstain from voting on a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

US officials stated President Joe Biden's administration was perplexed by the cancelation and saw it as an overreaction to the resolution, arguing that no policy had changed.

Netanyahu on Wednesday said his decision to cancel was meant to deliver a message to Hamas that international pressure against Israel will not prompt it to end the war without concessions from the group.

Yet again and following arguments within the war cabinet regarding Netanyahu's actions toward the Rafah Invasion, an Israeli delegation has been scheduled to visit Washington again next week.

According to a US official, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, both close supporters of Netanyahu, will lead the Israeli team.

Netanyahu has approved plans for a ground invasion of Rafah, the southernmost part of Gaza where over 1.5 million displaced Palestinians have sought refuge, despite warnings from Israel's supporters and critics who fear widespread civilian casualties.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
