ALBAWABA - A human rights official has resigned from the US State Department over Gaza, claiming that the Biden administration is violating US law by continuing to arm Israel and concealing evidence of Israeli human rights violations in Gaza.

Annelle Sheline stated that she hoped to impact policy by remaining in her position in the Near Eastern section of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. However, she had lost faith that she could do anything to affect the flow of the US armory to Israel.

Sheline's resignation comes following another education department official resignation who left the position in protest against Biden's administration policies in arming Israel in its ongoing brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza.

On Monday, the State Department stated that it had obtained assurances from Israeli officials and had not deemed them to be in violation of international humanitarian law.

But Sheline insisted, "The law is clear here, and we have evidence. However, the specifics are not being followed.

The State Department has stated that it is evaluating evidence of civilian suffering under the process established by the Biden administration last year, just before the Gaza war began, but Sheline stated that the findings of such investigations would only be made public if the White House so desired.

On Wednesday, Gallup published a new poll showing a significant drop in American public support for Israel’s conduct of the war, from 50% in November to 36% now, with 55% disapproving of Israel’s actions.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 32,000+ people, with more than 75,000+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
